TODAY IS
Rachel McAdams turns 40 today. She's one of those actresses who spent years in Hollywood working to become an overnight sensation. She was in "The Notebook." Back in her school days, I'll bet she was in lots of notebooks.
Toni Braxton, whose name always reminded me of a hair color product -- or an Italian dinosaur -- turns 49 today. One of her biggest hits was "Breathe again" which is a good habit.
Simon Cowell, if I may be honest, turns 57 today.
He had quite a bit of power during his "American Idol" days, but lately, he's more of an ex-factor.
If you're looking for gift ideas, a black t-shirt would be nice. Can never have enough of those things.
If I may be honest. He's receiving lots of well wishes from friends and fans... he even was sent birthday greetings from Tom Cruise on behalf of his home planet.
American cellist Yo-Yo Ma turns 61 today.
Of all the Yo-Yo's in the world, he's the top.
He was the center of all those Yo-Yo Ma jokes years ago... not to be confused with the "Yo Mama jokes."
Among cellists, Yo-Yo is Tops!
John Mellencamp somehow made it to 65 today. He was doing "Little Pink Houses" years before everything went pink in October.
Former Marine Lt. Colonel Oliver North celebrates his 73th birthday today... if he is to be believed.
World Smile Day -- The first Friday in October. Spontaneous smiles can't
Your bright smile often leads to a laugh -- Your open, generous heart is evidenced by your infectious smile, and you have a lot of influence with other people. Both friends and family turn to you for help with everything from planning a fabulous party to offering sage advice.

Your bright smile often leads to a laugh -- Your open, generous heart is evidenced by your infectious smile, and you have a lot of influence with other people. Both friends and family turn to you for help with everything from planning a fabulous party to offering sage advice.
You're slow to grin but giggle easily with pals -- You're a loyal, intuitive person who prefers a small circle of friends with whom you are comfortable enough to lose your reserved manner. You're also so honest, there's never a doubt that your smile or laugh is sincere and heartfelt.
You rarely show your teeth in a smile -- You're a clever, disciplined person who tends to laugh only when crossing intellectual swords with someone you believe is as smart as you are. Your subtle grin is a sure sign that, as usual, you have a lot on your mind.
You smile widely while making direct eye contact -- You're a born leader who can juggle a variety of responsibilities with a passionate, single minded fervor. Your quick smile also induces others to trust your judgement and support your solutions at work and at home.
