THE OTHER STUFF . . IN THE NEWS

Nipsey Hussle will live on in the Crenshaw District with a public basketball court that now bares his image across 78 feet of pavement ... which is getting a ribbon cutting Sunday. A court outside the Crete Academy charter school -- which is just blocks away from where Nipsey was killed -- is holding an event that'll unveil the gorgeous mural done by artist Gustavo Zermeno, which was put into motion by Venice Basketball League's CEO, Nick Ansom. Ansom told the media that the court was done as a way to pay Nipsey back for all his work in the community. Nipsey was a big sports fan, especially of hoops. After the ribbon cutting at 3 PM, there's gonna be some games ran on the new court. There will be a high school showcase at 4 PM, and then an All-Star game at 5 PM. There's no telling who might show, but ya gotta imagine some famous faces could surface. The memorial court is just the latest tribute to Nipsey -- who was murdered two weeks ago in front of his Marathon Clothing store. He died at the young age of 33. A Celebration of Life for Nipsey was just held at the STAPLES Center in DTLA, which drew tons of fans all over California. The procession that followed was a heavily guarded affair as fans flocked to see Nip pass through South L.A. one final time. His family also held a private funeral service for him on Friday. (TMZ)

Hailey also filed to register "Hailey Bieber" back in October for the purposes of launching her own clothing line. As we reported ... Justin recently announced he's taking a step back from his music to focus on his health and his marriage, citing some "deep rooted issues" he needs to address. Kim Kardashian defends law school studies after facing criticism. On the heels of her revelation that she's studying to become a lawyer, Kim Kardashian shared a photo of herself in the throes of prepping for the bar exam. Kim, 38, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself studying with her two attorney mentors, Jessica Jackson and Erin Haney. Surrounding her is a book on torts, a white binder and a couple of documents that appear to be practice tests. "Last year I registered with the California State Bar to study law. For the next 4 years, a minimum of 18 hours a week is required, I will take written and multiple-choice tests monthly," Kim explained in her Instagram caption. "As my first year is almost coming to an end, I am preparing for the baby bar, a mini version of the bar, which is required when studying law this way." The reality star never graduated from college, but in California, it's legal to study the law privately. While Kim has faced her fair share of critics for studying law -- many have compared her to Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde" -- Kim said that's not the case. "I've seen some comments from people who are saying it's my privilege or money that got me here, but that's not the case," she wrote. "The state bar doesn't care who you are. Everyone can take this route if you live in a state where this is allowed. It's true I did not finish college. You need 60 college credits (I had 75) to take part in 'reading the law', which is an in-office law school being apprenticed by lawyers." The mom of three reiterated that by no means is her law journey an "easy" one. "For anyone assuming this is the easy way out, it's not. My weekends are spent away from my kids while I read and study," she explained. "I work all day, put my kids to bed and spend my nights studying. I changed my number last year and disconnected from everyone because I have made this strict commitment to follow a dream of mine. It's never too late to follow your dreams." Kim asked for luck on her next assignment: "a big torts essay due on negligence." (PageSix)

Brian Baumgartner -- aka Kevin Malone from "The Office" -- was the life of the party at an Iowa bar this week, throwing back shots with college kids and leaving a meaningful tip. We got these pics of Brian crashing country night at Bo-James bar in downtown Iowa City ... and you can tell he had one hell of a night! Folks who were there tell us Brian surprised everyone when he strolled in at 9 PM on a Wednesday, and he was cutting loose and boozing it up like a frat bro. We're told Brian was downing Crown and Cokes, and he even climbed behind the bar to do a little bartending! As you can imagine, Brian's rager was a big hit ... and we're told everyone was clamoring to buy him a round. Brian's a celeb, so he asked the bar staff to charge his card so he could leave a tip -- and they both had fun with the number 69! Brian's in town for a speaking engagement at the University of Iowa, and we're told he partied the night away at the student hangout until 1 AM. Booze wasn't the only thing on Brian's brain ... he also played darts and belted out some country songs. Can we all go back to college?!? (TMZ)

This is unexpected! Kim Kardashian's ex-husband Kris Humphries was spotted getting friendly with Kardashian family friend Larsa Pippen at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 13. An onlooker told Us Weekly that the former NBA star, 34, and the 44-year-old Real Housewives of Miami alum were "hanging out by the VIP drink area at Coachella with a group of people," noting that "the two of them were talking and standing next to each other." The insider added that Humphries was "touching her head and playing with her braids" and that they seemed "playful." The former Brooklyn Nets player was "leaning down to talk to her since he's so much taller." However, after he left to get another drink, the athlete stopped to talk to another unidentified woman. The outing comes just three days after Humphries -- who was married to Kardashian for a mere 72 days in 2011 -- was spotted out on a date with model Khlo Terae, with a source telling Us their time at Butter Nails in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 10, "definitely seemed romantic." The insider explained that "it seemed like a super cute date" and that Humphries sat next to Terae as they both got nail treatments. "He was very friendly and nice to the staff and paid for her pedicure and his." Celebrities Pay Tribute to Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller at Coachella 2019 Pippen, meanwhile, filed for divorce from husband Scottie Pippen in November 2018 after 21 years of marriage. "It is with deep sadness that Scottie and I announce that we are legally separating," Larsa explained in a statement to Us at the time. "We have both tried very hard for a long time to make our marriage work and have ultimately come to the conclusion that it is best that we live separate lives. We have so many amazing memories together, remain best of friends and love each other very much. Our four children have always been our priority and for their sake we ask for as much privacy as possible for our family during this sensitive time." The former Chicago Bulls star, 53, previously filed for divorce from his estranged wife in October 2016, but the case was dismissed by the former couple in November 2017. "Larsa and Scottie did try hard to make it work, but just couldn't figure it out in the end," a source told Us. "It wasn't the same after Scottie filed in 2016. They grew apart and have their own lives now. There were also a lot of things from their past that they couldn't move on from. No drama, just issues. They are on good terms and are still close when it comes to their kids." Larsa and Scottie are parents of Scotty Jr., 17, Preston, 16, Justin, 11, and Sophia, 9. (US Weekly)

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's pals from "Jersey Shore" are supporting him on the outside, paying a visit to his wife while he's locked up. JWoww and Vinny Guadagnino showed up this week to Mike's apartment in Long Branch, NJ ... checking in on his wife, Lauren Sorrentino, while Sitch is busy serving out his 8-month sentence in federal prison. We got video of JWoww and Vin dropping by the complex, giving each other a big hug and a kiss hello before going inside to visit Mike's bride. We're told the cast members were there to shoot scenes for the 3rd season of MTV's "Jersey Shore Family Vacation." The last time we saw JWoww and Vin at Mike's place was back in October when the whole "Jersey Shore" cast was there for a family visit with The Situation, who had just been sentenced to hard time in his tax evasion case. Mike's not getting out until September ... so it's nice to see his friends are making sure everything's good at home. (Page Six)

Smollett 'attacker' wins Chicago boxing competition. Hopefully this beatdown wasn't staged too. One of the Nigerian brothers that "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett allegedly paid to fake a racist homophobic attack on him has won the Chicago Golden Gloves amateur boxing tournament. Abimbola "Abel" Osundairo, who allegedly took $3,500 from Smollett to help stage the Jan. 29 incident, took home the "senior novice division" title Friday night following a technical knockout in the first round, according to the Chicago Tribune. The division is for less-experienced boxers between 21 and 35 who weigh 178 pounds or less. Smollett allegedly hired Abel and his brother Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo to rough him up and put a noose around his neck in order to drum up sympathy for himself -- but instructed Abel "not hurt him too badly and give him a chance to appear to fight back," according to a court filing in the case. Police arrested the brothers on Feb. 13 but cut them loose two days later after interviewing them. Cops later charged Smollett with faking the incident, then suddenly dropped the charges. Now the Chicago Police Department is suing him in civil court for refusing to reimburse the city for its $130,000 investigation into a hoax. (PageSix)
