Shawn Mendes "Walking on Clouds" Over First Grammy Nominations. Justifiably, Shawn Mendes was "so excited" when E! News caught up with him Friday night at Z100's Jingle Ball 2018 at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Hours earlier, he reached a career milestone when he earned not one but two nominations at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Mendes said it was "amazing" to find out the news live on CBS This Morning, where he helped announce the nominees alongside Alessia Cara, Zane Lowe and Janelle Mone. "It's literally like walking on clouds all day. It was just really, really crazy. It was a super emotional morning, because my entire crew and everyone I've worked really hard with for a few years was there," he said. "We all kind of experienced it together. It's amazing. That's all I can really say about it." The 20-year-old singer-songwriter said it was "for sure" the highlight of his year. "In My Blood" is nominated for Song of the Year, while Shawn Mendes is nominated for Best Pop Vocal album. In addition to preparing for the ceremony, airing live from L.A.'s Staples Center Feb. 10, Mendes is gearing up for a world tour. His first date is set for March 7 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. "I have 100 shows coming up, and I just announced my first stadium in Toronto," the "Lost in Japan" singer noted. "I have my biggest tour I've ever done coming up next year, so I'm excited!" The song, which was released Aug. 10, ascends with a 57 percent boost in audience impressions (to 14.23 million) in the week ending Dec. 9, according to Nielsen Music. "This No. 1 represents the value of teamwork in my career," Yatra tells Billboard. "Not only through Mau & Ricky's collaboration but also the composers, producers, my label Universal, and my team who made this song possible and all the music we have been releasing. I'm beyond happy with this win. I dedicate it to God, my team and my family. Couldn't be more thankful. Onward with our efforts and dreams." Yatra claimed his first chart-topper through another collaboration: "Robarte Un Beso" with Carlos Vives landed at the summit on the chart dated Jan. 13 with 16.35 million in audience. With the move, the Venezuelan brothers score their first No. 1 on any Billboard chart. They first entered the Latin charts at the beginning of the year when "Mi Mala" with Karol G, debuted at No. 14 and No. 4 on Latin Digital Song Sales and Latin Digital Pop Sales charts (dated Feb. 24). It later peaked at No. 33 on the Latin Airplay chart-dated May 19. "This is a dream come true for us," Mau & Ricky tell Billboard via email. "To be able to achieve this together with our brother, Sebatian Yatra, makes it even more special." Concurrently, "Ya No Tiene Novio" lands atop the Latin Pop Songs and Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, earning the two acts their first leader on both tallies. The song is the 11th title to top the Latin Airplay, Latin Pop Songs and Latin Rhythm Airplay charts in the same tracking week this year. (Billboard)

Imagine Dragons to Perform During Halftime of College Football Playoff Champ Game Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons performs in concert during 2018 Music Midtown at Piedmont Park on Sept. 16, 2018 in Atlanta. Grammy Award winners Imagine Dragons will perform at halftime of the College Football Playoff championship game on Jan. 7. ESPN and Interscope Records announced the performance Monday. For the second consecutive season, the College Football Playoff will feature a Super Bowl-style halftime performance for the television audience. The school bands will still perform at halftime of the game in Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Imagine Dragons will headline the halftime telecast and perform from Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. The bands' song "Natural" was used by ESPN as the theme for much of the network's college football coverage and promotions. Imagine Dragons won a Grammy in 2014 for its song "Radioactive." The band will perform several songs in the halftime set, including tracks from its recently released fourth album, "Origins." The halftime concert will be free to attend but limited to those who secure passes. Details on how to do that will be announced at a later date. Last season, Kendrick Lamar performed at halftime of the College Football Playoff championship game in Atlanta. (Billboard)
