On The Road With ADOT

Paving work on westbound I-10 to progress toward SR 83 junction starting Friday

Paving operations on westbound Interstate 10 east of Tucson will progress toward the junction with State Route 83 starting Friday (Nov. 20) and continuing through Wednesday (Nov. 25).

Motorists traveling west on I-10 between Benson and Tucson will encounter weekday lane closures starting at milepost 288 and continuing to the SR 83 traffic interchange (Exit 281).

The restriction will be in place from 7 a.m. daily until 9 p.m., with the exception of Wednesday (Nov. 25), when crews will stop work at noon to avoid Thanksgiving holiday travel.

The posted speed limit in the work area will be reduced to 45 miles per hour and brief delays can be expected.

The work is part of a $15.1 million project to repave approximately 17 miles of I-10 in both directions between Tucson and Benson and replace the westbound I-10 bridge over Davidson Canyon, located 20 miles east of Tucson.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
