Sierra Vista Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
Mark your calendar for the City of Sierra Vista’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday, Dec 4, at 5:30 p.m. in Veteran’s Memorial Park. Join your friends and neighbors in this community celebration of the coming of the light. There will be a holiday music sing-along and a special appearance by Santa Claus. So kids, bring your “wish list” and be on your very best behavior! The collection of Old World Santas will once again be on display in the park during this year’s tree lighting ceremony. Standing over 8 feet tall, each Santa is a unique, hand painted, “jolly old elf” representing a different country or holiday theme. Refreshments of cookies and hot chocolate will warm our bodies as the lights and community fellowship warm our spirits. For additional information, call 439-2300.

The series concludes with Nora Ephron’s modern tale Heartburn, the semi-autobiographical novel based on her tempestuous marriage to Washington Post’s Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Carl Bernstein, best known for breaking the Watergate scandal. Book discussion group to meet The next book up for discussion by the Cochise College Literary Guild is “Spirit Walk,” written by Cochise College instructor Jay Treiber. The discussion is Nov. 21, 11 a.m. – noon, in the Horace Steele Room in the Sierra Vista Campus Library Building.
