Cat and dog owners
Cat and dog owners are putting their furry companions on pedestals like never before. The average owner would gladly pay a vet $1,620 to save his or her pet's life, says a recent survey. In a breakdown by pet, dog owners would pay $1,824 and cat owners would pay $1,309. And that vet bill would have probably been even higher if the owners' answers had not been limited to their oldest pet. In the survey by Consumer Reports, 14 percent of the subscribers polled proclaimed that "price was no object" when it came to buying the best commercially prepared pet vittles. And 1 percent of the 1,3000 owners polled declared: "I make most of my pet's meals myself."
