Were Turkeys Gobbled Up by the Ancient Ones? - White Tank Mtn.
White Tank Mountains Regional Park
We associate turkeys with something on our Thanksgiving dinner plate, but did you know that prehistoric peoples in the Southwest also raised domestic turkeys over 2000 years ago? But were they eating them? And if not, why were they raising them? Join Ranger Jessica, a former archaeologist, to learn about various archaeological evidence of turkey domestication and use throughout the prehistoric Southwest. This special Thanksgiving month program is science-oriented and may not interest younger children. The talk will be presented in the Nature Center classroom.
