TV/STREAMING . . .

Ariel Winter Books Law & Order: SVU Season 21 Guest Role. Ariel Winter has a new TV family, the Special Victims Unit. The Modern Family star will pop up in an early episode of the history-making Law & Order: SVU season 21. Winter teased a new project, as well as new hair, on Instagram. "Filming something new that I'm really excited about," she teased. The Modern Family star was spotted filming alongside SVU mainstay and executive producer Mariska Hargitay. Winter's episode, airing fall 2019, will explore the newest techniques and methods used to help victims disclose their trauma and recall key details for the investigating police. So far, season 21 of SVU's guest cast also includes American Gods and Deadwood star Ian McShane. In addition to Modern Family, which will return for an 11th and final season on ABC, Winter's other TV credits include Sofia the First, Minnie's Bow-Toons, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Phineas and Ferb, ER, Monk and Bones. Premiering Thursday, Sept. 26, season 21 of SVU makes the NBC drama the longest-running, scripted, live-action primetime series. Gunsmoke and the Law & Order mothership series held the record previously at 20 seasons each. "I'm deeply proud to be a part of this groundbreaking show, and humbled to make television history today," Hargitay, who has also directed numerous episodes, said in a statement when the renewal was announced. "The longevity and continued success of SVU is a testament not only to the show's powerful storytelling and ability to connect with viewers, but to its necessity. We have told important stories for 20 years, and we will continue to tell them." Hargitay has been with the police and legal drama since it started in 1999. "As SVU moves into its third decade, Mariska has become an iconic figure as a star, advocate and crusader for women," Dick Wolf, SVU creator and executive producer, said in a statement. "She is an enduring champion of the movement to end sexual violence, and dozens of episodes have dealt with the very same issues that have shifted into the spotlight in this country in the past two years. Mariska is a delight as #1 on the call sheet and, to me, a true friend." Law & Order: SVU season 21 premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. on NBC. (Eonline)

Bachelorette Hannah Brown's Parents Are Relieved She Split From Jed Wyatt. Bachelorette Hannah Brown's journey didn't end the way she expected. But perhaps that's a good thing. At least, if you ask her parents Susanne and Robert. After calling off her short-lived engagement to Jed Wyatt on Tuesday night's finale, our fearless star headed over to Jimmy Kimmel's studio for an After the After the After the Final Rose chat. An ardent member of Bachelor nation, the late night host couldn't help but wonder, how did Hannah's family react to news of her split. "I actually called my mom the other day to tell her some news and she was like, 'Don't tell me you're back with that boy!' and my dad goes, 'Oh hell no!'" she revealed. "I was like, 'Don't worry! Don't worry!'" After all, Susanne and Robert were not impressed with Jed -- or his lackluster music career. (On Monday night's episode, while Susanne teared up telling Hannah she deserves someone "that will love you like I know you should be loved," her dad Robert told his daughter not "settle for anything." And that includes dog food jingles.) Still, while her journey with Jed is over, there is a silver lining. She's going on a date with runner-up Tyler Cameron. "I definitely had feelings for him," Hannah told Jimmy, noting she wouldn't take back their breakup. "I became a lot stronger of a woman through all that I went through, so I don't want to say I regret it, but he is pretty great." And if all goes well, perhaps Tyler will officially be out of the running for next Bachelor. Which is perfectly fine with Hannah. "It's weird picking the next Bachelor for my ex boyfriends," she tried saying when the host asked for her preference. But that explanation isn't going to fly with Jimmy. "Do you think of them as your ex boyfriends?" he quipped. "Why don't you think of them as people on a show you were also briefly on... These men were not your boyfriends! A casting director found them and brought them to you and you kicked most of them off." It's a fair point. But in all seriousness, her top choices are Peter Weber (she said, blushing) and Mike Johnson. "I want them to have happiness," Hannah admitted. "So maybe it'll work out better for them than it did for me. But I'm getting drinks, so we'll see!" Cheers to that! (Eonline)

The Bachelorette Finale Was Made That Much Better With a Cameo From Demi Lovato. All those in favor of Demi Lovato joining Bachelor Nation, please say 'Aye.' Actually, too late, she's already a member. The singer made a surprise appearance at Hannah Brown's dramatic finale of The Bachelorette. There she was next to Demi Burnett in the audience, as Jed Wyatt claimed he broke another girl's heart because he didn't think he would find love on a show about getting engaged. When the cameras panned to show the shocked faces in the crowd, viewers got numerous glimpses at the star in all her glory. Her attendance at the taping is a Bachelor fan's dream come true. For the past few weeks, the star documented her viewing experience on her Instagram Story. When fans cringed over Jed's guitar, Demi was right there alongside them. And, more importantly, when women cooed over Mike Johnson's personality, Demi was all too eager to join in. Fans can truly tell how invested the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer was in Hannah's journey when she broke her social media silence to post exclusively about her meeting with the Alabama native. "I interrupt this social media break with this very important and iconic snap shot of WINDMILL cookies with my new favorite person @alabamahannah... and guess what... Jesus still loves us," she joked on Instagram. Hannah later commented, "love love love. so thankful for your support during this season of life and taking me under your wing. Also, thanks for sharing your mama with me." Although, it's unclear who her mom was more excited about seeing, Hannah or the dreamy Tyler Cameron? On Demi's Insta Story, her mom literally shouted to the model as the songstress yelled for their friend to "drive" lest her mother embarrass her. But, to be honest, who can blame her mom when it comes to matters of the heart or Tyler for that matter? (Eonline)

Netflix releases first trailer for Martin Scorsese's The Irishman starring Robert De Niro. Fresh off the news that Martin Scorsese's next gangster movie, The Irishman, will open the 57th New York Film Festival on Friday, Sept. 27, Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated film. Up to this point, all we'd seen was the teaser that aired during the 2019 Oscars. The Irishman, which stars Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, and more, has been in the works for years, with De Niro and Scorsese talking about making the film since at least 2010. Based on Charles Brandt's book I Heard You Paint Houses, The Irishman tells the story of mafia hitman Frank Sheeran (De Niro), who was rumored to be involved with the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino). The cast also includes Pesci, who was last seen on screen in 2010, as Pennsylvania mob boss Russell Bufalino, and supporting roles for Harvey Keitel, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, Ray Romano, and Jesse Plemons. The biggest talking point surrounding the film, however, has been the technology used to de-age its stars. The Irishman is slated to hit theaters and Netflix later this year. (Entertainment Weekly)
